Astonish Results Distributes Social Media Policies to Insurance Agency Partners

Committed to best practices and legal protection for its nearly 300 clients, Astonish Results is providing a social media guide and policy that insurance agency partners can implement to govern workplace usage of social media.

Astonish Results, a digital marketing company serving insurance agencies, will distribute social media policies to its nearly 300 clients in an effort to guide best practices and provide legal protection for employee workplace usage of social media. The policy communicates objectives, appropriate reasons for social media usage during work hours, administrative action for abuse and other contingencies based on individual agency values.

Social media is taking up a larger share of marketing budgets and production hours inside agencies and throughout the insurance industry. Having a policy in place serves two major functions. It lays the foundation for employees to understand how social media tools should be used to best represent the agency and it provides legal protection for agency owners should they have to discipline or terminate an employee for abuse.

The framework for the social media policy was created by the Agents Council for Technology (ACT), which describes itself as, “…a partnership of independent agents, companies, technology vendors, user groups, and associations dedicated to enhancing the use of technology and improved work flows within the Independent Agency System.”

“Many insurance agencies have no experience with this type of marketing,” says Adam DeGraide, CEO of Astonish Results. “We’re disseminating the social media policy to protect, but also to help them understand how social media can be used for better communication and as an insurance marketing tool.”

To further support this endeavor, Astonish Results has hired a community manager and social media architect to monitor the social web efforts of agency partners while providing webinars, onsite trainings, conference calls and weekly videos sharing the best practices and emerging trends in social media.
