A young Irish lad marries the girl of his dreams, and journeys to the Canadian wilderness where they build a new life together. Author Larry McCormick Reifurth tells the unforgettable love story of his great, great grandfather in Patrick and Franny.

Patrick Seamus McCormick was the third son and the fourth and last child of Seamus Michael McCormick and Mary Margaret Bridget Reiley McCormick. A generally happy child, Patrick had deep blue eyes and flaming red hair. By the time he was fifteen, he knew the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with—a long-legged lass, a couple of years younger than he, who had green eyes and the same flaming red hair that he had.

Frances, “Franny,” was the youngest child of Edward Joseph Kelly and Mary Colleen O’Brien Kelly. Patrick professed his love to her, including his plan to marry her someday. Franny returned his feelings but Patrick felt they should wait for a few more years before they get married. One day, Patrick overheard a neighbor talking about his son who owned acres of land in Canada and thus, sprung a new dream to travel to the new land.

Patrick never gave up his dream of going to Canada and when he and Franny finally got married, they made plans for their trip. How will the young couple cope in a strange new land, away from their beloved family and friends? Readers can witness their life unfold as they follow the enduring love story of Patrick and Franny.
