Tarkett Sports is a global leader in quality and innovative sports surfacing

Before selecting their coach, their team name and their game-court, the Texas Legends underwent a thorough review of the needs of their athletes, their facility and their organization. Thanks to Donnie Nelson (Co-owner of the Texas Legends and GM of the Dallas Mavericks), Evan Wyly (Co-owner of the Texas Legends) and Bill Boyce (President of the Texas Legends) a culture committed to excellence, innovation and integrity was quickly established. As a result, a hall of fame coach, a tribute to Texas team name and the ClutchCourt Sportable system by Tarkett Sports were chosen.
The ClutchCourt Sportable flooring system, which will be used for the Texas Legends’ game-day court, consists of several unique features designed to improve safety and performance while reducing costly labor time associated with assembly and disassembly. Cushioned panels and a dual locking mechanism built directly into the core of the system provides for optimal dimensional stability and shock absorbing support. For increased efficiency, the system’s unique panel size and Quick-T joints work to increase the speed of court setup and removal.
“The ClutchCourt Sportable system will help to protect our athletes and our bottom-line thanks to the high-quality performance and quick and easy assembly characteristics of the court”, said Boyce. “The Texas Legends are focused on building a culture of winning and we are literally starting from the ground up. We expect great things from Tarkett Sports and our new ClutchCourt floor. Our athletes and crews are going to love it.”
In explaining his decision to select Tarkett Sports, Donnie Nelson touched on the reliability of the company as a contributing factor in the decision making process. “Tarkett Sports is a global leader in quality and innovative sports surfacing,” said Nelson, “when deciding on a game-court for our players and facility, it was essential for us to select a company that we could trust.”
The Texas Legends will serve as the NBA Development League feeder team for the Dallas Mavericks and will be coached by Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman. The NBA Development League, founded in 2001, is the NBA’s official minor league and features 17 teams with direct affiliations to NBA teams. Dozens of former NBA Development League players were on 2009-2010 NBA end-of-season rosters, and the league continues to develop coaches, referees, and front office staff for the NBA and its teams. The NBA Development League also advances the game of basketball as the research and development arm of the NBA.
“We are all excited about the opportunity we have to help build The Legends’ legacy in such a basketball-rich market like Texas,” said Stephane Leudet, VP of Tarkett Sports’ Indoor Flooring Division. “Our sports flooring systems have been engineered for today’s athletes and provide for some real unique benefits. We look forward to contributing to the bright future that lies ahead for the Texas Legends’ organization.”
All Tarkett Sports surfaces are developed, produced and installed with a concentration on sustainability and a commitment to protecting the environment, providing additional LEED contribution opportunities for customers. The company calls this focus on sustainability and the environment 'Environmental Intelligence' and all company personnel strive to exemplify this philosophy in all aspects of the business.
