Your local Ronald McDonald House was on a mission to ensure that their doors remain open. Each year over a thousand families enter those doors to find sanctuary while their children are being treated in a valley hospital. “We don’t know what we would have done, had their not been a Ronald McDonald House near the hospital. David’s treatment was lasting, and we called the House our Home for over six weeks. We would have gone broke, had they not had a room for us,” relayed former Ronald McDonald House resident, Amy Waybright.
The house, like many, was strapped financially and in need of support. The staff was hoping that the community would realize the importance of the house as much as the families that use it daily have. During the month of May the staff set out to raise $7,500. That amount would give 500 families a night near their child’s bedside. “Having a sick child could happen to anyone, we wish that it didn’t, but we gain hope in knowing that we are available to the families that are dealing with it,” said Nikki Frago, Family Service Coordinator for RMHC.
On May 27th just three days before their time ran out to raise the needed funds, the charity received a phone call from Jim Dritsas President of Blue Sky Resources. That phone call turned out to be a blessing. Blue Sky Resources donated the remaining $3,000 and the Ronald McDonald House was able to meet their goal. “I cannot explain to you the amazement, excitement, and appreciation felt for Blue Sky Resources by our staff, board of directors, and most importantly the thousands of families we serve,” relayed Frago.
