The classic game of shuffleboard has increased in popularity in recent years, reaching its highest point since the World War II Era. Initially McClure tables outsourced the manufacturing of all Shuffleboard tables in an exclusive relationship with a contract manufacturer in China. Now with increased logistics cost and the rich history of fine furniture manufacturing in Michigan, McClure has decided to bring the manufacturing back to the USA.

Todd McClure, CEO of McClure Tables, Inc., explains, “At one time, over one hundred companies were manufacturing shuffleboard tables, now only a handful of companies manufacture tables in the USA. There are less than 4 manufactures that make Shuffleboard tables in the USA for nationwide wholesale and retail sales. Many in fact most all of these companies except one do not even make the most important part of the table and heart the play field surface. In fact, most simply buy this surface from butcher block factories then make the cabinet and other component parts. McClure Tables plans to open a new factory and do the complete manufacturing process in our own facility including make the board play surface.”

“I decided McClure Tables should conduct all processes in our own facility and we have already bought one of the largest radio frequency glue presses in our industry to laminate the butcher block boards. The leading competitor and only shuffleboard manufacture who makes the play surface uses a small press that requires to step glue sections 48” at a time and our new press is 18 foot long only the 20 and 22 foot boards will require a second step press in the glue up process, this will give us a unique advantage to manufacture our complete McClure Line of Shuffleboards.”

McClure Tables has long been known for its dedication to high quality craftsmanship and materials. They use superior hard maple woods and top quality polymers and butcher block construction for a smooth surface that gives years of exceptional performance. McClure also elaborated on the company’s new manufacturing plans for their Shuffleboard Factory.

“We’ve been evaluating a variety of factors concerning where we would manufacture the McClure Shuffleboard line. We wanted a reasonable turn around time from order to delivery as well as a way to create jobs in Michigan. It just made sense to create a manufacturing facility here at home, where we could offer maximum customization and reduce turn around time. We will start manufacturing in the USA by fourth quarter of 2011 and plans to offer more customization in sizes and finishes ready to ship the complete McClure line by the fall of 2011.”
