With VDIworks’ software capabilities and our hardware platform, we are creating a compelling access device for customers implementing centralized or virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 22, 2010
VDIworks, a virtual desktop software provider with a long history in centralized computing, today announced a technology partnership with Reachstone Corporation, the leading low-cost Thin client manufacturer with a strong presence in Asian markets. VDIworks and Reachstone have partnered to deliver fully-managed, flexible Thin clients which will be monitored and brokered via VDIworks'Virtual Desktop Platform software. These devices, and the accompanying management software, are available immediately.
Reachstone’s PowerPC-based Thin client devices implement a small footprint embedded OS on solid state memory and are the functional equivalent of a “Zero” client, providing no internal storage accessible to an end-user. The mix of management, tight security, small form-factor and low cost makes these devices a compelling alternative for numerous applications in Government, Healthcare, Education and Financial Services.
“This partnership benefits our customers immensely, by integrating VDIworks’ proven brokering and management solution with our flexible client devices” said Huan Wang, Reachstone’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “With VDIworks’ software capabilities and our hardware platform, we are creating a compelling access device for customers implementing centralized or virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)”.
Reachstone has numerous deployments in China and Asia, including at China Oil and Gas, China Ministry of Education, Century 21 and China Unicom.
“We’re thrilled to have Reachstone as our partner. They’re growing fast internationally and we believe with our management capabilities they can fulfill an even greater set of customer needs,” said Amir Husain, President and CEO of VDIworks. “We’ve always believed that there is no one-size-fits-all solution for VDI; the key is to enable a broad ecosystem of endpoint devices, hypervisors, management tools and hosts. That’s exactly what we’re best positioned to do with our flexible and open software platform.”
The business aspects of the agreement enable Reachstone to market and bundle VDIworks management software with their devices in Asian and international markets, while also allowing VDIworks to sell numerous Reachstone devices to its customers in the US and globally.
