Clements International, the leading provider of insurance solutions for expatriates and international organizations, will award the M. Juanita Guess Award to Sarah Genton of the U.S. Embassy Madrid during the 2010 American Foreign Service Awards.

The M. Juanita Guess Award is presented to a Community Liaison Officer (CLO) who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, initiative or imagination in assisting the families of Americans serving at an overseas post. This award was established in memory of M. Juanita Guess, former president of Clements International, and is one of several presented annually by the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA).

Genton is credited with creating and managing numerous, innovative programs for the U.S. Embassy in Madrid. She went beyond the call of duty as a Community Liaison Officer to provide compassionate support to U.S. Foreign Service families beset by crisis or tragedy. She launched a sponsors program to support incoming families, founded Embassy Madrid’s first Volunteers in Action group, and created a popular re-entry workshop for families returning to live and work in the U.S.

“On behalf of Clements International, we are truly honored to award Sarah Genton the 2010 M. Juanita Guess Award,” said Chairman and C.E.O. Jon Clements. “We have a longstanding relationship with the U.S. Foreign Service and this award demonstrates our strong support for their community. It’s clear that she has made an enormous contribution to the U.S. Embassy in Madrid and we applaud her dedication and service.”

The 2010 American Foreign Service Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 24 at 4:00 P.M. at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. in the Benjamin Franklin Diplomatic Reception Room.
