Combined solutions enable application teams to easily deploy, monitor and troubleshoot web applications in private and hybrid cloud computing environments.

New Relic, Inc., the leading software-as-a-service provider of application performance management (APM) solutions, today announced that its flagship application management solution RPM, can manage the performance of applications deployed on Eucalyptus, open source infrastructure software for creating both on-premise private cloud and hybrid public/private cloud-computing environments.

Eucalyptus is open source infrastructure software for implementing on-premise cloud computing using an organization’s own information technology (IT) infrastructure. Eucalyptus turns data center resources such as machines, networks, and storage systems into a cloud that is controlled and customized by the IT team. Eucalyptus supports the same application programming interfaces (APIs) as public clouds, and it is fully compatible with the Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure.

New Relic RPM is an application performance management tool that provides deep visibility into Java, JRuby, and Ruby web applications. It allows development and deployment teams to monitor live web applications 24x7, proactively identify and troubleshoot potential performance issues, and tune applications for optimal performance. Development teams using the Eucalyptus architecture to create private or hybrid cloud computing environments can use RPM to ensure superior service for application deployed on the Eucalyptus infrastructure.

“More and more organizations are migrating their business-critical web applications to private on-premise cloud environments or hybrid public/private clouds,” said Rich Wolski, CTO at Eucalyptus Systems, which develops Eucalyptus software. “To be successful, it’s important that development and deployment teams have the right tools in place—scalable, robust software infrastructure and the ability to monitor and rapidly troubleshoot application performance. Eucalyptus and New Relic RPM are a great combination for helping teams realize the many benefits of cloud computing.”

“Development teams embarking on private or hybrid cloud computing initiatives are looking for proven, yet simple solutions for ensuring smooth deployments and superior service delivery,” said Bill Lapcevic, vice president of business development at New Relic. “Organizations worldwide have recognized the value that New Relic RPM and Eucalyptus can provide in helping them achieve their cloud computing goals. Having a reliable software infrastructure as well as proven monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities can make all the difference when it comes to meeting application performance and business objectives.”
