Hassle Free Travel Not Here Yet, Warns Go Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance still necessary in wake of fresh IATA claims.

With the end of the oil age nearly upon us, biofuels are the great hope for the future, and there is no doubt that air travel is getting safer.

Go Travel Insurance have announced their enthusiasm for a new report on the future of air travel, but warned customers that travel insurance is still an essential requirement.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released plans for it’s vision of air travel in 2050, which promises ‘clean, safe and delay-free travel’ for passengers the world over.

The news comes as recent industry projections suggest that this year will see the first recovery in airline profitability since the recession.

The IATA’s Vision 2050 plan predicts that there will be ‘close to zero’ accidents and a 50% decrease in carbon emissions, thanks to biofuels made from jatropha, camelina, algae or even urban waste. The IATA also believes that consumers will be able to travel without the delays commonly associated with flying, as air traffic control services become more efficiently organized and globally co-ordinated.

A spokesperson from Go Travel said: “The IATA’s announcements are certainly encouraging for the future of the travel industry. With the end of the oil age nearly upon us, biofuels are the great hope for the future, and there is no doubt that air travel is getting safer.”

“But,” the spokesperson continues, “where we are now is a long way from where we hope to be. The fact is that travelers are still beset by all sorts of problems when travelling. The sort of ‘delay-free’ flying that the IATA is predicting is still a long way off.”

IATA outlined it’s belief that the current system of air traffic control, where each country is responsible for it’s own airspace, causes delays and indirect routings that waste 16 million tones of carbon dioxide each year.

The Go Travel Spokesperson added: “The current system is hugely inefficient. We obviously welcome a future where delays are minimal. But for now, make sure you’re covered for every eventuality. 2050 is a long way off!”
