Transportation finance expert, Mitch Poole, has joined the Fusion Sleep Transportation Business Advisory Board. Poole has more than 40 years of experience in finance, both in the public accounting industry and as Chief Financial Officer, President and Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Executive Officer of several major private and publicly held trucking companies.

Fusion Sleep, the leading provider of transportation sleep medicine services, announced today that transportation finance expert, Mitch Poole, has joined its Transportation Business Advisory Board.

“We are very pleased and excited that Mitch decided to join our newly formed Transportation Business Advisory Board,” said Sigurjon Kristjansson, CEO of Fusion Sleep. “Fusion Sleep is committed to providing trucking companies with solutions that provide distinguishable medical benefits for their drivers while having a significant positive impact on bottom-line results for the company. Mitch’s wealth of experience and insight into the transportation industry from both an operating and financial perspective will be a valuable asset as we continue to develop our programs to become even more effective and profitable for fleets.”

Poole has more than 40 years of experience in finance, both in the public accounting industry and as Chief Financial Officer, President and Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Executive Officer of several major private and publicly held trucking companies. Most recently he joined EVE Partners LLC, an investment and merchant bank whose practice is focused exclusively on the transportation and logistics industry, as Senior Managing Director. Some of his former roles include: Partner-in-Charge of the Southeast Transportation Industry practice for Arthur Andersen & Co.; Chief Financial Officer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allied Holdings, Inc., North America’s largest vehicle distribution company; Chief Financial Officer of Ruan Transportation Management Systems; and a Principal and Chief Operating Officer for the Reznick Group PC, a national public accounting firm.

The U.S. transportation industry employs over three million truck drivers, of which approximately 28 percent suffer from Sleep Apnea alone. Sleep is a fundamental function of the brain and Sleep Apnea is only one of over 70 sleep disorders which are known to cause costly diseases when left untreated, including Weight Gain, Hypertension, Type II Diabetes, Heart Disease and Stroke. Eliminating sleep disorders can reduce healthcare costs by as much as 50 percent, reduce absenteeism and curb driver turnover while increasing productivity and sharply reducing the risk of traffic accidents.

The Fusion Sleep program is an integrated team consisting of experienced full-time Board Certified Sleep Medicine Physicians, Technologists, Therapists and many other Sleep Medicine professionals who are trained to treat all sleep disorders. The company’s Sleep4Safety program provides a comprehensive and tailored medical service for nationwide trucking fleets utilizing their unique Medically Managed Care Model. The program removes the risks and prevents the costs associated with untreated sleep disorders in fleets without disrupting productivity through it’s road-tested method of bringing Sleep Medicine to drivers where they sleep and work.
