James Shelaga finds his fossils and stones in his home state of Arizona, and administers the art of silversmith to create beautiful jewelry. "My goal is to have every woman alive own a piece of my lapidary creation on her arm, finger or around her neck." Outdoor art shows have become a lifestyle for James. And, he has earned respect by winning numerous high awards in shows that include judging and awards.

Closer to home, Sheila Weiss, a native Atlantic City woman is the daughter of a prominent jewelry store owner in Atlantic City. Sheila met the owner/organizer of ARTWALKSHOWS.COM years ago when the topic of "repurposed art" came up in conversation. At that time, she told her story: When her father passed, she was left boxes of beautiful pieces of jewelry. They sat for years, until she decided one day to utilize them as something other than their original function. As a result, Sheila Weiss has honored her father's history by turning broaches, stones, and metals, into embellishments of other items, or completely changing them into new functions.

The only way to truly appreciate these fine crafts is to go see the Atlantic City Juried Art and Craft Show Independence Day Weekend. The show is open from 11am to 7pm, and parking is very convenient. Fine painting in all mediums, photography, handcrafted fiber arts and accessories, jewelry, glass, wood and wood instruments, flower making, natural soaps and candles are some of the items displayed and for sale. You are sure to have a nice time no matter what your taste, by shopping or eating at THE WALK, and enjoying the entertainment, and of course, the talent and creativity of a great group of artisans.
