I love the diversity of items that you can buy

Thousands of Angelenos flock to Santee Alley on a daily basis. The shopping area in the Fashion District offers everything from clothes and accessories to perfumes, gifts and toys, all at a discount from more than 150 vendors. “I love the diversity of items that you can buy,” says FIDM fashion school student Linda Tang. “They have all the new trends before the season and you can find fast fashion garments, designer jeans, and knock-off accessories.”
Linda, who attends FIDM’s Orange County campus, recently blogged about her adventure teaching U.S. Marines how to “shop till they drop.” Her boyfriend Nate and his friends Erik and Geoffrey joined Linda for a day of suit shopping in Santee Alley. The occasion? These few good men needed to look sharp for the 92nd Anniversary of the Battle of Belleau in Paris. “We were looking for affordable, comfortable, and stylish suits that could be fitted and tailored in one day – no better place than Santee Alley!” Linda wrote in her post. The shopping trip was a huge success. Each young man left with a full suit, two dress shirts, two ties, one belt, and one pair of socks all for $100 each.
“I love to bargain and get my money’s worth,” Linda adds. “Santee Alley is a great spot to practice your negotiating skills.” She says the Downtown L.A. destination is unlike any other shopping experience in the area. Linda eventually hopes to work in the apparel industry and have her own line of motorcycle gear for riders and enthusiasts alike. “To me, a successful company is a business that positively impacts its patrons, people, and community while still making a profit.”
