We've been testing with SOASTA since last summer and it's amazing how quickly they respond

SOASTA, the leader in cloud testing, today announced it has extended its industry leading performance testing solution CloudTest with the release of CloudTest® Grid, the first fully automated provisioning capability, purpose-built for Performance Management. CloudTest Grid continues SOASTA’s success in reducing the cost, complexity and time to results for performance testing websites and applications.
With CloudTest Grid, performance engineers can deploy hundreds, or even thousands of load servers around the globe in a matter of minutes. The servers are automatically spread across locations to meet the requirements of each specific test, and the Grid takes care of all error checking and fail-over to replace any bad instances or get additional capacity from other locations, as needed. Once deployed, the servers are monitored throughout testing to track their health and ensure the Grid is operating as expected.
CloudTest Grid works seamlessly with CloudTest Analytics, providing location specific information to present actionable results in real-time dashboards. CloudTest Analytics’ unique Activity Map, which uses the Google Maps API to plot load server and target locations, displays key test metrics, such as average response time and error rates, in their geographic contexts to provide a compelling end-to-end view of performance. The Activity Map shows location-specific information including Cloud provider name, the number of virtual users, region, script errors and server instances.
"We've been testing with SOASTA since last summer and it's amazing how quickly they respond," said Mike Kavis, CTO, M-Dot Networks. "Our most recent test simulated 1.1 million shoppers going through checkout lines at the same time. It was impressive to watch SOASTA rapidly launch the necessary load servers in 7 locations around the world using multiple cloud vendors."
The SOASTA CloudTest Grid is the result of having deployed hundreds of thousands of servers in the Cloud to load and performance test many leading consumer-facing websites, including TurboTax, Netflix, Mattel, Hallmark and United Healthcare. The requirement to rapidly deploy and tear down large numbers of servers was the impetus for SOASTA to be an early adopter of the Amazon Web Services API. SOASTA has since used that experience to work with other Cloud providers including CA/3Tera, IBM, Microsoft and Rackspace in building the Grid.
In today’s worldwide, Internet marketplace, an organization’s success rides on the quality, reliability and performance of its applications. The emulation of real world web conditions from different geographies, different time zones, and at different levels of scale, becomes increasingly important. SOASTA’s CloudTest Grid makes it easy to provide the most accurate representation of web-scale traffic and usage available today.
“The CloudTest Grid is the next step in the ongoing evolution of cloud testing,” said Tom Lounibos, CEO, SOASTA. “Testing at web-scale, and often against production systems, requires new tools and new methods. Just as CloudTest Analytics speeds the time to problem identification, CloudTest Grid accelerates the time to test, while dramatically reducing the cost. And the SOASTA Performance Test Methodology leverages these capabilities to address the new opportunities and challenges presented by cloud testing.”
Today’s web applications are delivering the next generation of dynamic content to an extraordinary number of global users every day. Keeping pace with the speed and agility of today’s web development initiatives requires a next generation of testing and performance management solutions. SOASTA CloudTest leverages the resources of the Cloud and user communities to accurately simulate traffic hitting a website or application from outside the firewall, providing the baseline metrics for the real-time dashboard.
SOASTA’s mission is to ensure that today’s websites and applications are highly reliable and scalable. The company’s product, SOASTA CloudTest®, delivers performance intelligence by capturing data about all the elements that impact a website and immediately turning it into actionable information. Leveraging a unique, real-time analytic engine built exclusively for testing web and mobile applications, SOASTA CloudTest enables quality assurance and development teams to test and monitor their websites under both typical and extreme traffic conditions, at an affordable price. SOASTA CloudTest is available on-demand or as an appliance. SOASTA is privately held and headquartered in Mountain View, California.
