Post Office Home Insurance advises homeowners to review their home insurance policy to ensure purchases are covered

Recent research shows that as the weather turns warmer, UK online spending on home and garden products in April increased by 11 per cent compared to March .

With summer well underway Post Office Home Insurance is reminding homeowners to check that any new purchases for their garden are covered by their home insurance policy.

Home contents insurance from Post Office Home Insurance offers protection for the furnishings and personal belongings in the home and garden that are not permanently fixed. This includes items such as garden furniture and lawnmowers. Around seven in 10 people in the UK have home insurance, but that still leaves 30 per cent of UK adults who are without any type of home insurance cover, leaving home and garden items at risk .

People in London are some of the least likely in the country to have home insurance in the country. Young people and those with no dependants are also most likely to risk going without home insurance. .

As summer approaches, people may be tempted to spend more time in, and money on, their gardens. Post Office Home Insurance is therefore reminding homeowners of the importance of arranging adequate home insurance for their belongings, particularly if they have recently purchased expensive items for their home or garden.
