Laurel Springs School, the accredited, college prep online high school, congratulates the Class of 2010 by hosting a “real time” prom and graduation ceremony for its online high school students. Laurel Springs School is the only online high school that brings its graduating seniors together in person for a traditional graduation weekend, including a prom.

“This year we have 219 seniors graduating from our college prep high school program. We have students attending from as far away as Kuwait and numerous US states including Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Tennessee, and Texas. Congratulations to the Class of 2010 as they join the highest caliber of homeschool alumni,” said Marilyn Mosley Gordanier, founder and executive director of the school.

Over the past five years, Laurel Springs’ graduates have received more than $5,000,000 in college scholarships. 2010 is another great year, with students being awarded full and partial scholarships for academics and athletics to prominent universities such as Bellarmine University, Boise State University, Drexel University, California Lutheran University, The Catholic University of America, Eckerd College, Lasell College, New American University, Newbury College, Nova Southeastern University, Pepperdine University, Prescott College, Seattle University, University of Rhode Island, University of Southern California (USC), and University of Utah. The graduation weekend is held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Ventura, California, beginning Friday night with the semi-formal “Under the Boardwalk” prom for all Laurel Springs high school students. Graduation ceremony talent includes performances by Justin Reynolds, an up and coming hip-hop recording and performing artist who currently has multiple record label offers and Katelyn Johnson, singing “Praying for Time” by George Michael with piano accompaniment by her friend, Kurt Cereske. Laurel Springs is the only distance learning high school that has a chapter of the National Honor Society. Students accepted to the National Honor Society will proudly wear gold ribbons to signify membership.

Many Laurel Springs graduates are already working professionally as actors, entertainers, and athletes, and will continue to pursue their professions and competitive sports. Here are some of their testimonials:

“ Laurel Springs School has given me the opportunity to accomplish personal goals that other schools told me was not possible. It has allowed me to travel to International and National Tennis tournaments as well as National Figure Skating competitions year round while continuing my education and love for sports at the same time. My teachers encourage and believe in me every step of the way through my Laurel Springs experience. I would truly not be where I am today without the incredible distance learning program of Laurel Springs School,” said graduating senior, Gabriella Weissmann.

“Laurel Springs has allowed me to achieve my goals while still learning at an active pace that prepared me for college. The staff was incredible and I really feel like I maintained a personal relationship with my teachers even though it was long distance. The courses were set up very well and I feel as though my academic talents grew with each lesson. The course set-up allowed me to pursue my passions as a competitive horse rider while still keeping on top of my work academically,” said graduating senior, Katlynne Joerg.
