Best New River Cruise Ship

AMAWATERWAYS is the fastest-growing river cruise line in Europe, known for its innovative product and state-of-the art vessels. Acknowledging its tradition of excellence, the line’s MS AMALYRA was selected as “Best New River Cruise Ship” at the 2010 WAVE (Western Agents’ Votes of Excellence) Awards sponsored by TravelAge West magazine.

More than 125 companies, individuals and destinations were celebrated by the magazine’s readers at the WAVE Awards ceremony, held at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills on June 10th. Honorees were recognized in 47 categories that spanned the cruise, tour operator, airline, hotel and resort and destination travel fields. Travel agent professionals throughout the 14 Western states and readers of TravelAge West were invited to vote on the “best-of-the-best” from a list of Editor’s Pick award recipients.

In selecting the AMALYRA, WAVE Award voters made a clear choice for a vessel embodying the AMAWATERWAYS commitment to innovation, luxury and unparalleled amenities. The 148-passenger AMALYRA features a sleek, upscale décor, high-tech amenities such as complimentary Internet access in every stateroom, first-run Hollywood movies, Wi-Fi access throughout the vessel plus delightful European service.

AMALYRA boasts spacious, 170-square foot standard cabins, with more than 82 percent of cabins offering French Balconies; plush bedding with down duvets; flat-screen TVs; marble-appointed bathrooms, spa-quality bath amenities, terry cloth robes and slippers. Gourmet meals in the restaurant are accompanied by complimentary local wines, beers or soft drinks plus specialty coffees. The vessel features a fitness center, beauty salon, whirlpool, walking track on the Sun Deck, elevator and fleet of bicycles for passenger use. To compliment the river cruise experience an elite AMAWATERWAYS cruise director accompanies each voyage and expert local guides conduct complimentary city tours (plus guided bicycle tours) throughout the cruise.

In addition to the AmaLyra, the luxurious AMAWATERWAYS fleet includes MS AMADOLCE (2009), MS AMACELLO and MS AMADANTE (2008), MS AMALEGRO (2007) and MS AMADAGIO (2006). AMAWATERWAYS christened its newest vessel, MS AMABELLA, in May 2010, featuring the latest in dual balcony stateroom design. The line will introduce a sister ship to the MS AMABELLA, the MS AMAVERDE, in 2011. AMAWATERWAYS is also building a new ship for the Mekong, the MS AMALOTUS, which will join the MS LA MARGUERITE (2009) on the Mekong in 2011. In Russia, a completely refurbished ship, the MS AMAKATARINA, will begin sailing in May 2011.

AMAWATERWAYS offers an exciting lineup of “all-inclusive” river cruise itineraries for 2010 and 2011. In Europe, AMAWATERWAYS river cruise vacation packages encompass the heart of the Continent, with selections from Amsterdam to Istanbul. In addition, the line cruises in Southern France on the Rhone River; in Southeast Asia, with its Vietnam, Cambodia and the Riches of the Mekong program and a one-of-a kind Russian Waterways itinerary from St. Petersburg to Moscow.
