When women get older, they lose body fat causing the skin to sag, making them appear older. Instead of getting this skin tightened, women are having it filled out

In just two years, the UK has seen double the number of women aged 45 and over seeking breast enhancement operations.
Transform, the UK's largest cosmetic surgery group, has reported a huge spike in women 45 years of age and older undergoing body enhancement procedures including buttock implants and breast enlargements. The trend has been dubbed the 'Cougar Lift'.
According to statistics released by Transform, one in five breast enhancement patients are now aged 45 and over.
Previously, tummy tucks and breast uplifts were the most popular procedures for women 45 and older. However, the last few years, Transform's cosmetic surgeons have been carrying out more procedures which ‘fill out’ various parts of the body that have begun to sag. The cosmetic surgery group named breast augmentations, buttock implants and facial dermal fillers as the most popular treatments.
Women aged 45 and over, or 'Cougars', now make up 20% of Transform's breast augmentation patients - double 2008’s numbers. At that time, an estimated 50% of buttock implant patients ranged in age from 18-30. This has since fallen to 30%; patients in the 45 and older age group have risen from 15% in 2008 to 27% in 2010.
"When women get older, they lose body fat causing the skin to sag, making them appear older. Instead of getting this skin tightened, women are having it filled out," explained Shami Thomas, a spokesperson for Transform.
"Women have learned the 'gaunt' and 'super-skinny' look that was once so popular makes them look older. Plumper skin looks much healthier and youthful. Demi Moore and Madonna are great examples of that. It looks like Demi chose breast augmentation for a curvier, younger-looking body. Madonna's face is much fuller, and some would even say fuller than it was when she was younger. Whether mature patients are having their faces, breasts or bottoms plumped up, filling out is definitely the trend for 2010," Thomas continued.
