Most upcoming college students anxiously look forward to new friendships, social events and interesting classes – leaving little time to think about cleaning up their dorm room. Knowing the importance of having fun and saving time, Electrolux is introducing three new stick vacuums this summer that give students quick-cleaning solutions in a variety of time-saving, stylish designs.

Many features on these new models fit the way users clean throughout the day – whether it be lighting up dark spaces with LED headlights or using a lithium ion battery for longer cleaning power.

Having paved the way for easier cleaning in the kitchen and around the home with the innovative Ergorapido® cordless stick vacuum with a removable hand vac, Electrolux recognized the need for even more powerful, long-lasting cleaning solutions to suit on-the-go students. With this insight, Electrolux’s global design team set to work updating the original, popular Ergorapido model by adding even more functionality, new technology and convenience. In addition, the brand also developed a new stick model, the Unirapido™, which offers more dust and dirt-capturing capacity.

“These Electrolux stick vacuums all integrate powerful suction with user-friendly designs that help students clean faster so they can get back to enjoying their new friends and school,” said Jackie Cooper, director of marketing and communications for Electrolux.

The three new sticks defy the reputation of cordless, lightweight vacuums with unique features designed for specific needs – making any student the envy of the dorm and their floor:

  • For the between class, no-hassle cleaner – Unirapido comes to the rescue with a design for quick, powerful cleaning with cyclonic filtration and a one-liter dust cup capacity for more pick-up and less emptying.
  • For the late-night, study-break cleaner – Ergorapido® Ultra+ lights the way with LED headlights to help tackle dirt, dust, chips and cookie crumbs in hard-to-see places, 12 volts of power and a removable hand vac.
  • For the marathon, thorough cleaner – Ergorapido® ION will keep going with a quick-charge 18-volt lithium ion battery for longer cleaning power and a removable hand vac.

“Many features on these new models fit the way users clean throughout the day – whether it be lighting up dark spaces with LED headlights or using a lithium ion battery for longer cleaning power,” said Cooper. “Now it’s even easier to clean all surfaces quickly, from floor cleaning to tables, chairs or futons.”

The new models come with a sleek charging stand, cyclonic filtration and a low-profile, 180-degree swivel head that easily glides around corners and under furniture with a slight turn of the wrist. The Ergorapido models’ charging stands also house a set of tools to help reach dirt in hard-to-clean areas and crevices.

The detachable handheld unit on the Ergorapido models extends cleaning reach to above-the-floor areas like desks, window sills and countertops.

Both Unirapido and Ergorapido Ultra+ in Vivid Green will be available in July 2010 at Lowe’s stores nationwide. Ergorapido ION in Copper Metallic will be available in July 2010 on BestBuy.com and Sears.com.
