(http://www.discoverkillington.com) -The nation's best junior golfers will be in Killington the first week of August for the Killington Junior Golf Championship, sanctioned by the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA, PGA) in partnership with the Town of Killington Office of Economic Development and Tourism (EDT) (http://www.discoverkillington.com) Green Mountain National Golf Course and the Killington Resort Golf Course. The dates are August 2-5.

In addition to the four-day AJGA event, there will be a Vermont Junior Open non-qualifier hosted by the Killington Resort Golf Course and managed by Vermont PGA. The AJGA event marks a return to tournament golf in Killington. Green Mountain National previously hosted the FUTURES Tour with the LPGA.

"The Town of Killington has shown a commitment to welcoming world class athletes," said John Dolan, AJGA northeast regional director. "The AJGA is proud to partner with the Town of Killington and its championship venue at Green Mountain National Golf Course."

There will be 99 players competing in the Killington Junior Golf Championship and an additional 70 expected for the Sunday qualifier. The event consists of 54 holes of stroke play competition over three days, preceded by a day of practice rounds. Golfers will include both girls and boys, ages 12 to 18.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for the Town because in addition to the golfers attending the tournament, we are jointly marketing Killington golf vacation packages to the AJGA's 10,000 members," said Seth Webb, Killington Director of Tourism and Economic Development. "Each player is accompanied by friends and family, so the town can expect a busy week for lodging and restaurants."
