"With this release, we've worked to improve the performance of the Digipede Network in some of the most challenging grid computing scenarios encountered by our customers."
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) June 28, 2010
Leading grid software provider Digipede™ Technologies (http://www.digipede.net) today announced general availability of version 2.4 of its award-winning grid software solution for the Microsoft Windows platform. The Digipede Network 2.4 delivers increased performance, better management of multi-core compute resources, and new compatibility with the latest Microsoft technologies.
In addition, Digipede announced new wins with customers using Digipede-enabled software from Ventyx (http://www.ventyx.com), Lockheed Martin (http://www.lmco.com), and Barrie & Hibbert (http://www.barrhibb.com).
“This is a very customer-driven release,” said John Powers, President of Digipede. "We’ve spent a lot of time listening to our most demanding customers, the folks who really push the envelope on grid computing projects. We’ve been pouring over support cases, replicating customer configurations, and really focusing on features and performance improvements that help out with the most extreme cases. As a result, Version 2.4 now handles many of the most difficult grid scenarios more smoothly. For example, customers can handle a huge number of very short tasks more smoothly, and can get greater throughput from I/O-intensive distributed applications. This greatly expands the class of applications that are good candidates for grid computing.”
Digipede’s most recent release also includes the capability to host .NET 4 applications, and has earned Windows 7 certification. "It’s important for us to keep current on Microsoft’s technologies," continued Powers. "It’s surprising how little work is being done by other vendors to take advantage of the platform Microsoft provides to develop true high-performance distributed applications. We continue to win converts from former UNIX and Linux cluster users when they see how much easier the development experience is with the Digipede Network on Windows."
“Microsoft’s partners are building incredible solutions on these new technologies,” said Allison Watson, corporate vice president, Worldwide Partner Group, Microsoft. "Our partners are the critical link to delivering customer value and solving complex industry, research and core business challenges. By working closely with partners like Digipede, we are transforming the way people work and delivering on the promise of People Ready software."
The Digipede Network is deployed at leading enterprises worldwide to accelerate and scale a broad variety of applications. The Digipede Network 2.4 integrates with Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2010, Windows HPC Server, and other Windows Server 2008 products, allowing developers to write .NET or COM applications that take advantage of hundreds or thousands of computers. This makes powerful grid computing solutions practical, easy and affordable for Windows-based systems. Additional information on the various Digipede Networks editions can be found at our Web site.
