Braintree Printing, a full-service commercial and quick printer in Braintree, Massachusetts, continues its climb up Quick Printing Magazine 's annual Top 100 Quick Printers list, ranking 23rd in 2010, up ten slots from last year. Quick Printing's Top 100 is published each year to spotlight the leading small commercial printing companies in North America. The list ranks printing companies by sales figures, growth, number of shops and employees, sales per employee and sales per shop. Braintree Printing reported $5.94 million in 2009 sales and ranked particularly high in the Sales Per Employee category. Braintree Printing's 26 employees generated $229,000 in printing and copying sales last year. This figure outranked all of the top 20 printers nationwide, including the number one printer. According to Quick Printing Magazine, "2009 delivered some of the darkest days our industry has ever experienced. And being a Top 100 company didn't provide any shelter from the economic turbulence. Quick and small commercial printers have weathered storms before, but this recession was a real beast in anyone's book." Total sales for the Top 100 printers was $512 million, a decline of 15.56% from 2008. Given the difficult economy and its effect on the printing industry, Braintree Printing's rise up the quick printing roster is even more impressive. Owner Jim Corliss says the company survives and thrives by following solid business principles: emphasizing efficiency and productivity improvements, while retaining and rewarding excellent employees. "We also listen carefully to our customers and invest wisely in new technologies that meet their printing needs," Corliss said. "Braintree Printing recently expanded our book printing and book binding business with the purchase of a Standard Horizon BQ-470 perfect binder. We've also installed a second Xerox iGen4 in response to increased demand for color printing."
