We have had FieldTurf on our game field for a full year now and the players absolutely love it
Jackson, MS (Vocus) June 30, 2010
The University of Mississippi has added yet another FieldTurf field on campus – this time replacing the indoor football practice field with the same FieldTurf that the Rebels have installed in Vaught Hemingway Stadium. Ole Miss Rebels Head Coach Houston Nutt and FieldTurf President Eric Daliere jointly made the announcement of the FieldTurf installation.
The Ole Miss Rebels became the 1st team in the Southeastern Conference to play their home games on FieldTurf in 2009. Currently 4 other SEC teams practice on FieldTurf; the Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, and the Vanderbilt Commodores. The FieldTurf installation at the indoor football practice field begins immediately and is fully on schedule.
“We have had FieldTurf on our game field for a full year now and the players absolutely love it,” stated Nutt. “Our players will benefit tremendously from a new indoor practice surface that provides the same improved traction and performance characteristics as our game field.”
“The University of Mississippi is one of the most storied programs in all of college football, and it’s an honor to continue to be a part of the Rebel tradition,” said Daliere. “We are pleased that the University continues to think so highly of our product and we look forward to once again providing the very best in artificial turf safety to Coach Nutt and his players.”
In addition to the Rebels, more than 100 top NCAA programs currently play and/or practice on FieldTurf including the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines, Texas Longhorns, West Virginia Mountaineers, Washington Huskies, Oregon Ducks, Wisconsin Badgers, Illinois Fighting Illini, Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas State Wildcats, Boston College Eagles, Indiana Hoosiers, Minnesota Gophers, Missouri Tigers, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Syracuse Orangemen, Cincinnati Bearcats, and the Louisville Cardinals. Twenty-one of the NFL's 32 teams have chosen to play and/or practice on FieldTurf.
