Event Features Car, Motorbike, and Three on Three Basketball Tournament

NFL defensive back Evan Oglesby of the Miami Dolphins is staging a huge 4th of July event in his hometown Toccoa, Georgia (just outside of Athens) to benefit his foundation for children and to give support to American troops stationed over seas. The events begin July 3rd with car and motorbike show, with the 3 on 3 basketball tournament running both July 3rd and 4th. The EO foundation both represents Evans initials, and the foundation's philosophy of education and opportunity. Details of the event be found at

The holiday events represent the latest in a year long series of events Evan is backing to highlight the need to give youth and opportunity by stressing education. With his previous Casino Royale event in March of this year, Evan established himself as one of the rising celebrity event hosts, and EO Weekend as one of the rising stars in the charitable foundation arena. The event was a celebrity rich series of parties to raise money to connect America's youth with mentors and inform them on the opportunities education represents. Evan always seeking to give back, insist on paying out 100% of all donations and funds raised to scholarship and youth programs. "It is important that we that are blessed with so much do as much as we can to encourage youth to be all they can be, especially stressing that education is way to success," says the talented NFL star. "We have to remember where we came from, be it a big city, or small town like the one I am from, and devote some time and resources to help kids as we were by coaches, teachers, and the good people of this great country we live in," Evan continues. Evan also will be sending off a care package and a card signed by all attendees to our troops overseas in support of their "tremendous sacrifice" on our nation's birthday.

Evan also has numerous other events planned throughout the year to keep the focus on athletes and entertainers returning to their cities and towns and inspiring young people to learn job skills, take advantage of educational opportunities, and improve their neighborhoods by being positive role models themselves. Evan is asking Toccoa residents and business owners to spend part of their 4th of July holiday helping clean up the park where the event is being held, and through out to the city to attract more business and therefore increase opportunities for employment among its residents. Evan is also looking to expand his program for rural youths, sometimes forgotten in the discussion of education and opportunity by sponsoring field trips to other countries such as England, Canada, and France. Evan says, "Exposing children to the world expands their minds and their opportunities, it teaches them the importance of education and the benefits of it at an early age in a realistic way." Look for Mr. Oglesby to continue to be a star both on and off the field throughout 2010 and beyond.
