International Tour Management Institute (ITMI), America’s premier training and certification program for tour directors and guides, has selected Atlanta, the entertainment capital of the South, as the host city for its annual Symposium to be held January 16th to 20th. The venue for the event will be the Crowne Plaza Ravinia Hotel, which is hosting the opening night gala reception.
“The tour and travel industry has a tremendous impact upon the global economy. It remains the top revenue producing industry in the world, generating more than $740 billion annually in the U.S. alone,” states Ted Bravos, CEO ITMI. “The ITMI Symposium is the only industry event that brings together international and domestic tour directors and guides, tour operators, meeting and event planners, destination management organizations, incentive travel companies, cruise companies and travel writers for continuing education and networking. Familiarization tours provided with the assistance of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, offer industry professionals site viewing and selection opportunities for future tours.”
ITMI is excited to announce that the “World of Coca Cola” will be the premier sponsor for Symposium. Coca Cola will host a memorable closing night gala cocktail party and dinner in its spectacular new “World of Coca Cola” facility, offering attendees a unique opportunity to experience a world-class tourist attraction.
A special tour of the CNN studios will provide visitors with a glimpse of the inner workings of this media giant. The Atlanta History Center, Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, and the Jimmy Carter Library, offer insights into the city’s historic past from the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement.
Since its inception in 1976, ITMI has launched thousands of travel careers. Students from around the world come to San Francisco to receive the prestigious ITMI Certification. Many graduates have gone on to become tour operators, corporate meeting and event planners and entrepreneurs in the tour and travel industries. ITMI alumni are sought after by major tour operators such as Adventures by Disney, Tauck World Discovery, Globus Family of Brands, Cosmos, Collette Vacations, Princess and Holland America Cruise lines to name but a few.
