'Eclipse,' the third installment of the 'Twilight' saga, descends on movie theaters this week. For longtime fans of the popular vampire book series as well as recent groupies of the big-screen franchise’s teen idols, anticipation extends far beyond the box office. Twi-hards are enthusiastic in their mobile usage too, as evidenced by activity within the Predicto Mobile community, whose members are celebrating by texting predictions about the film’s stars and success.
At the start of the summer movie season, Predicto members were asked which heavily hyped sequel would be the biggest hit. More than 60,000 people voted on this hot topic, with the majority predicting that 'Twilight: Eclipse' would gross more than 'Iron Man 2' and 'Sex and the City 3.'
This Predicto.com poll seems to indicate that the mobile community will be lining up to see 'Eclipse' – but how about Miley Cyrus? The pop star has been quoted as saying that she hates vampires, but 71% of Predicto members think that "The Artist Formerly Known as Hannah Montana" will succumb to 'Twilight' mania. While most members opined that Miley would not be able to resist seeing the film, one offered a more interesting explanation: “She may not like vampires—so that just means she’s Team Jacob.”
Regardless of whether Ms. Cyrus becomes an avowed fan, the vampire saga concludes in 2012 with part two of 'Breaking Dawn,' so Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will have to start thinking about their post-'Twilight' careers. Summit Entertainment, which produces the franchise, recently optioned the self-help book 'Men are From Mars, Women Are From Venus.' Could R-Patz and K-Stew sign on to star in the movie, as rumored by gossip blogs? The Predicto Mobile community seems open to the possibility, with 61% voting that the two will announce they’ll headline a non-'Twilight' flick by summer’s end.
No matter what they decide, Twi-addicts can still look forward to watching Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in two more films. Their fascination with 'Twilight’s' supernatural love triangle, as well as the rumored real-life romance between the film’s leads, all but ensures the box office success of the franchise for years to come.
