RMJ Technologies (http://www.rmjtech.com ), a GPS vehicle tracking solutions provider, announced today that Rancho California Water District (RCWD) has selected and implemented its fleet management solution to wirelessly monitor GPS location, engine diagnostics and emissions for its entire fleet. RMJ Technologies has supplied RCWD with the Networkfleet wireless fleet management system that combines GPS technology with engine diagnostics to improve the productivity and efficiency of fleet operations.
Formed in 1965, Rancho California Water District supplies water to an area consisting of approximately 150 square miles in the area known as Temecula/Rancho California, which includes the City of Temecula, parts of Murrieta, and other contiguous lands. The District currently provides sewer service to the Cal Oaks and Bear Creek areas.
Mike Calvert, Operations Project Manager, noted the key environmental benefits of using this system. “It helps decrease greenhouse gases in several ways: by alerting the mechanics via email of maintenance needs (properly maintained vehicles operate more efficiently) and monitoring the vehicles constantly, instead of during smog checks every two years. In addition, customer service representatives can utilize the GPS system to more efficiently dispatch vehicles to a work site. We can manage idle time and vehicle speeds, since low speeds create fewer pollutants, and the GPS system helps drivers select the best routes.” Furthermore, “With an anticipated 10% reduction in fuel use fleet wide, the Water District can expect to save $16,000 a year in fuel costs. The exemption of the bi-annual smog check saves $6,000 a year. On top of this, there are savings realized by catching problems early and eliminating costly repairs with the preventative Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Reporting System. Overall the system will pay for itself in less than six months the first year, and in less than three months for each following year. This will be a huge cost savings for the District over time, which is a big plus to our budget.”
Networkfleet’s patented system reads real-time diagnostics from the vehicle’s engine to allow fleet managers to monitor precise information such as exact vehicle speed, fuel consumption, and emissions status for all vehicles. Fleet managers log in to a secure Web site to view vehicle performance data and receive reports emailed directly to their in-box daily, weekly, or monthly.
“RMJ Technologies works with a variety of public agencies and private companies to help them use GPS vehicle tracking systems to reduce fuel costs, lower maintenance expenses, and reduce emissions,” said Jerome Toliver, CEO, RMJ Technologies. “We are happy to help the Rancho California Water District achieve its goals to improve operating efficiencies and lower emissions. We encourage other agencies and municipalities also to contact us so we may assist them in reducing their overall fleet costs, mitigate emissions and bridge budget gaps.”
