We are incredibly pleased with the tremendous results experienced by EMWD as they have actively managed their solution to surpass their own expectations. We encourage other agencies and municipalities to contact us so we may also assist them in bridging budgetary gaps.

RMJ Technologies (http://www.rmjtech.com), a GPS vehicle tracking solutions provider, announced today that Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) has elected to extend its relationship to provide its fleet management solution to wirelessly monitor GPS location, engine diagnostics and emissions for its entire fleet. RMJ Technologies supplied EMWD with the Networkfleet wireless fleet management system that combines GPS technology with engine diagnostics to improve the productivity and efficiency of fleet operations in January of 2009.

EMWD supplies potable water, wastewater collection and treatment, and recycled water to a community of approximately 675,000 people in the Western Riverside County including eight local water agencies and municipalities that have their own water departments. With a service area of approximately 555 square miles, EMWD is the fifth largest water district in California. EMWD employees approximately 650 employees and operates a fleet of over 600 vehicles which includes approximately 350 on-the-road vehicles including sedans, pick-up trucks, vans, heavy duty service trucks, dump trucks, and tractor trailers.

“RMJ is an excellent vendor, and they have provided excellent service to EMWD over the past year and a half. The Networkfleet product they represent is proving to be all that they claimed it would be and more. March 30, 2010 marked the end of our first full year of implementation of the GPS vehicle tracking system. We closely evaluated the implementation costs and the savings brought about by the system and the results are very impressive. Overall, implementation of the GPS tracking system reduced annual miles driven by 332,000 miles, resulting in $136,000 reduction in fuel cost. In addition there were substantial savings in vehicle maintenance costs, insurance premiums, and improvements in labor efficiency. All totaled, the net benefit to the District was $690,000, and the payback period was approximately two and half months. As we enter into our second year of implementation, we continue to look for ways to reduce cost. We are currently in the second month of our second year, and data shows that we have already paid back the second year implementation costs, $96,000, which was the annual service fee for the GPS tracking service. We will continue to monitor the operation of the fleet to ensure the savings we have achieved are maintained and to find even more savings through additional training and better use of the GPS tracking system capabilities,” stated Mark Iverson, Director of Operations for EMWD.

Networkfleet’s patented system reads real-time diagnostics from the vehicle’s engine to allow fleet managers to monitor precise information such as exact vehicle speed, fuel consumption, and emissions status for all vehicles. Fleet managers log in to a secure Web site to view vehicle performance data and receive reports emailed directly to their in-box daily, weekly, or monthly.

“RMJ Technologies works with a variety of public agencies and private companies to help them use GPS vehicle tracking systems to reduce fuel costs, lower maintenance expenses, and reduce emissions,” said Jerome Toliver, CEO, RMJ Technologies. “We are incredibly pleased with the tremendous results experienced by EMWD as they have actively managed their solution to surpass their own expectations. We encourage other agencies and municipalities to contact us so we may also assist them in bridging budgetary gaps.”
