Knowledge Factor, Inc. Announces New CEO as a Result of Increased Funding

Knowledge Factor, Inc., the industry innovators in online learning software, recently named a new CEO in connection with the close of its latest round of funding.

Knowledge Factor received approximately $2.75 million in funding led by the company’s lead investor group, Boulder-based Lacuna Gap Capital. With this new investment capital, the company’s board of directors orchestrated a company restructuring that brings to the management team a new, highly seasoned CEO, Bob Burgin, to steward the company through a period of rapid growth.

“I have a deep passion and respect for the role that learning plays in the lives of individuals and companies,” said Burgin. “My decision to step in as CEO of Knowledge Factor was based on my belief that this company‘s products are truly the most efficient, effective learning tools that exist in the market today, and that this company has a very real place in the massive learning market.”

Burgin has more than 20 years of leadership experience and success in venture-capital backed companies across a wide range of industries. Burgin founded and served as CEO of Finali Corporation for six years prior to his facilitating the sale of the company to Convergys in 2004. Burgin also served as a turnaround CEO and then continued on the board of StrionAir, a company that specializes in air purification technology. While at StrionAir, Burgin helped secure a $40 million agreement with Carrier Residential who purchased the business in 2009.

Additionally, Burgin previously served as Vice President of business development and strategy at TheraTx, a company that grew from a start-up to over $300 million in revenue in seven years. He helped lead a public offering at TheraTx prior to it being sold to a multi-billion competitor. Burgin also currently serves as Executive Chairman of Tribute Direct in Houston, Texas, which is another portfolio company of one of the lead investors at Knowledge Factor.

Burgin has purposed some of the funds to bolster his management team. Additionally he is using the funds to expand new business outreach beyond his existing base of Fortune 500 companies such as GE and Kaiser Permanente, and has recently announced the wins of TW Telecom, Oceaneering, McKesson, CVS CareMark and Pioneer. Knowledge Factor is also opening up new markets in the certification and education industries. For more information, visit http://www.knowledgefactor.com.
