eDigitalResearch is strengthening its public sector offering through the appointment of Gerallt Evans-Hughes as head of business development – public sector. Gerallt will be responsible for helping public sector organisations gain a deeper understanding of people’s perceptions to better inform strategy and policy decisions at local level.

With the new coalition government effectively relinquishing central control of the local government agenda, local authorities will need to gain a more in-depth understanding of what residents want, so that they can effectively allocate resource and fine-tune public services. Working closely alongside local councils, Gerallt plans to demonstrate how eDigitalResearch can provide them with quick and cost-effective insight, drawing from well-established research methodologies including online survey panels, communities and netchat.

Gerallt comments: “There are undoubtedly challenging times ahead for local government and it is important for all public sector organisations to make more effective use of data. I am excited to work with a dynamic organisation that can help local councils to better align public services to meet people’s needs. As well as gathering public opinion, the range of cost-effective online tools will also enable them to monitor their own employee perceptions and attitudes as well as enhancing improved two-way communication in light of the public sector spending cuts.”

With an expanding customer-base spanning across the retail, finance, travel, media and home services sector, Gerallt’s appointment will help build eDigitalResearch within the public sector. Gerallt brings a wealth of market research and public sector expertise to his role, having established the market research platform in the UK public sector for the likes of Mott Macdonald and BMG Research, as well as working as a senior education advisor for various local councils.

Michelle Fuller, director of eDigitalResearch comments: “Gerallt has extensive experience in this sector and we are very excited to have him spearhead our public sector offering. His knowledge combined with our eleven year heritage in the online market research sector, will help public sector organisations to gain quick and cost-effective insight to help shape their services for the betterment of local communities.”
