Genesis Technical Systems Corp. Of Calgary, Canada Was Voted “Most Investable Company” At Europe’s Most Active Angel Group’s Venture Academy In Sophia On June 18th.
Genesis’ DSL Rings® technology enables Telcos to provide up-to 400Mb/s broadband over their existing copper wire infrastructure to their urban and rural customers at 1/20th the cost of a fiber install to urban and 1/100th the cost to rural and it requires no trenching.
“This is a great honour for Genesis and reflects the amount of work that the whole team has done in building a solid company,” said Garry Kelman, CEO of Genesis. “This is not the first group that has recognized Genesis' potential," continued Kelman, referring to a similar award the company received at the Vancouver Angel Forum in November 2009.
Genesis also shared the “Best Presentation Award” in Sophia with a company from Ireland.
Eight companies from around Europe and North America presented at the Sophia Venture Academy, two of which had already received funding from the Sophia Angel Group. The judges included Candace Johnson, former CEO of Astral Satellites, Gustave Nobel of the Nobel Foundation, Dr. Nazar Sadeq Al Baharna, His Excellency the Minister of International Trade, Bahrain, and Anil Joshi of the Mumbai Angel Group in India. Over 50 individuals were involved in the voting.
Sophia Angel Group was voted the best angel group at the European Business Angel Conference in Istanbul, and has invested in over 20 companies in the last 36 months.
Genesis’ proven patent pending DSL Rings® technology is in lab demonstrations with two major European telco customers. Using DSL Rings® telcos will be able to re-use their existing copper phone lines to bring low cost easy to install ultra high bandwidth services to their rural and urban customers.
