The IE Destination Council today announced the launch of its tourism program with a new tourism website, http://www.DiscoverIE.com, and IE Adventure Weekend Giveaway. The weekend giveaway contest kicks off July 1. Two lucky individuals will win a fun-filled Inland Empire weekend adventure that takes place Friday, August 27 through Sunday, August 29.

“The Inland Empire is the perfect single or multi-day adventure, especially when it comes to enjoying a great Southern California weekend,” said Steve Eckerson, general manager, Citizens Business Bank Arena and chairman of the IE Destination Council. “It’s affordable, convenient and, when you consider the diversity of what we have to offer, there really is something for everyone. The IE Adventure Weekend Giveaway will show off some of the unique and fun things to do here.”

The IE Adventure Weekend winners will be announced Friday, August 27 at the Planes of Fame Air Museum located at Chino Airport in Chino, Calif. Contest rules are available at http://www.DiscoverIE.com. The contest officially ends August 20.

Over the course of the weekend, the winners will: fly in a World War II era bi-plane at Planes of Fame Air Museum; zip line over Big Bear Mountain; drive 120 mph around Auto Club Speedway; experience San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino; shop at Victoria Gardens and Bass Pro Shops; boat across Big Bear Lake; witness bull-riding at Citizens Business Bank Arena; tour the IE Auto Show at the Ontario Convention Center and enjoy an evening at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, among other inland adventures.

People can sign up at http://www.DiscoverIE.com where they will get a preview of the official website to be launched on August 26. With registration on the website, individuals will be eligible to win the IE Adventure Weekend as well as receive ongoing updates, news and ideas about things to do in the Inland Empire. In conjunction with the website, the Council is launching a DiscoverIE blog.

The IE Destination Council was formed to promote the destination advantages of the Inland Empire, Southern California’s perfect inland experience. The region’s proximity to Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties makes it a convenient, affordable and preferred choice for a one-day, overnight or multi-day adventure. Exploring the Inland Empire is the perfect answer for “what should we do this weekend?” That’s because of its mountains, deserts, lakes and rivers; high-profile and nationally-acclaimed destinations; historic landmarks; marquee events; and a convenient Southern California location.

Additional prize packages will be awarded throughout the two-month contest period. These include gift cards to San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino, Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, Victoria Gardens and Bass Pro Shops. Other prizes include Ontario Convention Center event tickets and a family fun pack to San Bernardino County Museum.

The IE Destination Council adopted the Discover IE, Southern California’s Inland Experience brand to encourage greater discovery of the region. The brand has been on display at a number of local events since the Council’s formation.

“This region is already a popular getaway when you consider how many people travel inland for skiing, biking, climbing, off-roading, fishing and boating. We want Southern California residents, tourists, and business travelers to discover even more of what the Inland Empire has to offer. If they come out for an auto race, concert, or to gamble, ski or fish, we want them to see how much more they can do as part of their inland experience,” said Eckerson.
