BlueMelon has created a new account type designed for professional photographers who seek to present and sell their work online : the Enterprise account.

Setting everything up is surprisingly simple because of the concept of price lists. A price list is basically the list of all available products, from which it is possible to choose the products that you want to offer for sale and then set a price for each of them. There are controls available to globally change all the prices in a price list and various filters to make the process as simple and as effective as possible. If you know what you want, you can have a price list set up in three minutes time. There is, of course, no limit to the number of price lists that can be created. Once you have a price list created, you can assign it to all of your photos, the photos in specific albums, or to specific photos.

Selling digital copies of your images is performed in much the same way as selling prints and products. The only difference is that to sell a digital copy, a digital product needs to be set up. A digital product can be sold either under one of the three default licenses or it is possible to edit these or write your own. It is also possible to restrict the maximum size of a digital product - thus you can sell a photo in various dimensions at various prices without having to resize it.

Payments can be made via PayPal and 2Checkout - neither of which requires a buyer to sign up for an account. There is a 12% profit fee for all sales : 12% of the profit of each sale is taken to cover the additional hosting, order and payment processing, and the customer service.

An additional protection layer has been added to the existing restriction of the maximum resolution that photos are accessible in : watermarking. Watermarks can be created as styled text or from an uploaded image. Watermark creation is quick and simple and watermarks can be assigned to any number of photos or whole albums at once.

Among other features, there is the option to manually approve each order, so that an image can be, for example, replaced by one of a higher quality. With the Enterprise account being the ultimate account type, all of the features available in any of the other account types are available with this one as well.
