In a time of uncertainty and anxiety for many Americans, world-renowned humanitarian and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is bringing his timely message of peace and empowerment to Connecticut.

Connecticut residents will have the rare opportunity to benefit from Sri Sri’s teachings directly July 21-25 and lead a life full of joy and contentment. They will join more than 2,100 people from across the country, South America, Europe, Canada and Mexico, who are traveling to Hartford for a variety of self-development workshops and meditation retreats.

Recently named one of the five most powerful people in India by Forbes Magazine, Sri Sri travels to more than 40 countries a year to meet with world leaders, mediate in conflict situations and oversee initiatives in meditation, self development, conflict resolution, disaster relief, prisoner rehabilitation programs and youth leadership. His initiatives have impacted more than 25 million people worldwide, including thousands of Connecticut residents.

With more than 7,300 teachers in 152 countries, it is unusual for participants to have the opportunity to take these workshops in Sri Sri’s presence.

“More and more people are suffering from stress and angst with busy lifestyles and economic and ecological catastrophes,” said Michael Fischman, President of the Art of Living Foundation. “Sri Sri’s teachings allow us to uncover the inner strength that each of us have so that we can move ahead joyfully, unshaken by the events of life.”

The Art of Living Foundation, founded by Sri Sri in 1981, is one of the world’s largest volunteer-driven non-profit organizations. The Foundation offers stress reduction, meditation and self-developmental programs.

Developed by Sri Sri, the cornerstone of the Art of Living courses is an innovative breathing practice called Sudarshan KriyaTM that naturally detoxifies and energizes the body. As stress becomes a bigger health problem in America, these courses benefit participants with improved physical and emotional well-being.

In Connecticut, the Foundation has been active for more than a decade. Participants say they have found greater joy, confidence and contentment in their lives with the practice of Sri Sri’s techniques.

“It was the best thing I have ever done for myself,” said Sandra, a financial aid officer at the University of Hartford.

In July, at the Hartford Hilton, the four-day introductory Art of Living workshop will be open to the public. For details, please visit: http://us.artofliving.org/ct

Sri Sri’s 12-city recent North American tour included the April inauguration of a major Art of Living Center in Los Angeles in the presence of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Through the years, Sri Sri has conferred with many of the world’s major political, religious and business leaders, sharing his message of compassion, service and non-violence.
