"Un Poquito de Todo" and the single "Regalame Tu Amor" are Valle Son's first musical releases since 2006, and the first independently produced and distributed album in the Cuban band's 15 year history.
With "Un Poquito de Todo" Valle Son covers many genres, eras and styles of Cuban and Latin music. From the very traditional (albeit with a fresh new youthful energy) "Manicero" & "Los Guapos", to modern salsa "Algo Contigo" & "Son con Clave", to pop "Memorias"... "Un Poquito de Todo" (a little of everything) is just that... a giant sampler of everything that is great about Cuban music - for the uninitiated as well as the expert connoisseurs.
The eight members of Valle Son should be considered the grandchildren of the Buena Vista Social Club generation as they have definitely inherited the genes of Cuban son and salsa. With this latest release, it may be difficult to keep the tremendous talents of vocalist Danaisy Marrero Montesino a secret much longer. Her rendition of classics such as "Lagrimas Negras" and "Yolanda" may cause even the most expert Cuban music aficionados to rediscover these boleros all over again.
Previously affiliated with a Canadian record company, Valle Son has since sought to capitalize on new technologies and distribution channels to independently promote and distribute their music outside of their native Cuba. This is however not the first international foray for this talented band from Cuba's Pinar del Rio province... as they have toured three times in Canada and the United States in 2000, 2003 and 2006.
While Valle Son is thrilled with their latest release, they have also sought to extend the same opportunity to other bands from the Viñales/Pinar del Rio area by serving as a record label to help showcase other local talents such as Sol del Valle ("Todo Tradicional" and "Ojos Malignos") and Guacacha Son ("El Soñador" and "Zarandeala") whose latest releases are also featured on http://www.valleson.com and currently available for download from iTunes and Amazon.com.
Valle Son is currently back in the studio working on their next album and in the months ahead will continue to help promote their province's musical talents by releasing the works of other local artists working in a variety of genres... traditional son, salsa and even reggaeton.
Proceeds from Valle Son's latest release will be used to fund an upcoming 2011 US tour.
