The Consortium, an independently owned fulfilment and procurement business, for education, care and home care, has bolstered its sales and marketing team with the appointment of Simon Leggett as Sales and Marketing Director. The company realises the importance of leveraging strong sales and marketing cohesion in difficult financial times as a focus for the coming year.

The Consortium, an independently owned fulfilment and procurement business, for education, care and home care, has bolstered its sales and marketing team with the appointment of Simon Leggett as Sales and Marketing Director. The company realises the importance of leveraging strong sales and marketing cohesion in difficult financial times as a focus for the coming year.

With over 20 years sales, marketing and supply chain experience, most recently at multi-channel, global office products company Staples, Simon is well placed to lead this approach. Jon Hickey joins as Head of Sales, having held a variety of positions at Office Depot and Westcoast, and the newly created Head of Marketing role is taken by Jo Trigg, who moves from within The Consortium.

Every day The Consortium provides nurseries, schools, colleges and care homes with well sourced, cost effective products. Simon Leggett expands on the company’s “Buying Made Easy” proposition: “With a strong sales structure in place, we will work hard to continue the award winning standards of customer care that make The Consortium stand out from the crowd. A development focus will be to build opportunities across the brands to ensure they are accessible to as many customers as possible. For example, we believe our simple like for like price promise will attract both new customers and ensure existing ones are confident they receive the best from us.”

The business has grown organically and now hosts a family of sector specific brands including consumer brands that have evolved from The Consortium’s core proposition.

Leggett concludes: “Both Jo and Jon bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the business and it’s their understanding of our customers needs that will help us move our business forward.

“By having such a clear and straightforward aim to make buying easy we will continue the focus on sourcing the best possible products at the best price whilst consolidating our supply chain. We will continue to maintain excellent customer service and after care but at the same time evolving so we can always match the needs and aspirations of the marketplace.”
