This is a significant development for OneAsia and will provide the tour's events with great exposure in a market that has produced one of the most successful professional golf tours and many outstanding golfing talents.
Hong Kong (PRWEB) July 13, 2010
OneAsia today announced a new agreement which will see its tournaments broadcast in Japan on cable and satellite channel GOLF NETWORK.
This agreement will extend the coverage of the tour’s events across the country’s over 6.9 million households with access to GOLF NETWORK. Broadcast on Japan’s largest dedicated golf channel commenced early last month with coverage of Korea's GS Caltex Maekyung Open Golf Championship. Similarly, the live coverage and highlights of all OneAsia events will be televised alongside the network’s regular programming of top golf programs including PGA Tour, eight major tournaments, and both Japan's Men's and Ladies' Tours.
“We are delighted that OneAsia events are being broadcast in Japan, one of the largest golf markets in the world," said Sang Y Chun, Chairman and Commissioner, OneAsia. "This is a significant development for OneAsia and will provide the tour's events with great exposure in a market that has produced one of the most successful professional golf tours and many outstanding golfing talents.”
“We are very excited that we will make this fast growing OneAsia available through the year on GOLF NETWORK,“ said Kimmy Iwamoto, President, Jupiter Golf Network Co., Ltd. “Aligning with the fast growing OneAsia will strengthen our broad range of golf programs, especially our international tour contents.”
The agreement was negotiated in conjunction with World Sport Group, OneAsia’s global media and marketing partner.
Since it was launched last year, OneAsia’s tournament schedule has more than doubled in size, offering a multitude of full field playing opportunities to leading players across the region. In 2010, OneAsia will stage 11 tournaments offering over US$12 million in prize money, ultimately seeking to provide players in Asia with an alternative pathway to the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
