Our partnership with PureShare resulted in a customized solution that has already demonstrated the business benefits of providing tailored, real-time information to our managers.

An innovative use of PureShare® ActiveMetrics® to increase operational efficiency for its commercial laundry operations has earned Sodexo, Inc. a CIO Magazine 2010 CIO 100 Award. The award recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).
PureShare ActiveMetrics proactive metrics software eliminates the need for generating, analyzing and managing manual reports by providing business users with direct access to answers about business operations. Users can access business and operational metrics anytime, anywhere, from any source and in any format and stay up-to-date about current operations performance. This powerful tool gives managers greater visibility and the ability to make immediate decisions that have a direct impact on the business and improve operational efficiencies.
Sodexo’s Laundries Dashboard is an operations management tool that combines information from multiple systems and multiple locations to monitor core processes in the Laundry and Linen Services businesses. PureShare ActiveMetrics software gathers and displays appropriate information in various dashboard views that provide metrics for each level of management. The web-based dashboard can be accessed from any computer or mobile device. It also sends real-time email alerts that enable management to resolve operational issues immediately.
“Sodexo has empowered its management team by providing increased visibility into operations by leveraging PureShare’s unique technology,” said Christopher Dean, PureShare president and CEO. “With PureShare ActiveMetrics, Sodexo has uncovered new insights about its laundry business and operations and now enables its managers to take immediate action based on that information. We were able to provide them with a killer combination of automated retrieval of operational metrics from multiple remote sites, web forms, and dashboard views all integrated with security, organizational hierarchy, proactive notifications, and mobile devices.”
Sodexo’s Laundries Dashboard allows for the effective management of critical areas as well as providing detailed analysis and comparisons. Since implementation, the company has improved:
- The ability to track the location of thousands of laundry carts. Thanks to the Dashboard, Sodexo has been able to ensure the return of more than a hundred carts to its plants, saving $28,800.
- Compliance with customer contracts. The new technology has automatic triggers for key contract dates and changes which results in $11,000 in additional revenue from customer contracts since the dashboard technology was launched.
- Performance against Sodexo’s Better Tomorrow sustainability commitments that include reducing water, energy and waste. Water use reductions at one facility from 1.7 gallons/pound to 1.3 gallons/pound reduce the environmental footprint and will save $67,000 annually. In Buffalo, N.Y., the facility projects that its water reduction efforts will produce an annual savings of $24,000. In Opa Locka, Florida the facility is saving more than $3,000 a week in energy costs.
“Our goal was to combine information from across a number of different sources into an easy to use product that met the differing information needs within our levels of management. So we knew we needed a flexible tool that not only could gather and manipulate data well but also provide a flexible development environment for the user interface,” said Tony Tocco, senior vice president and chief information officer for Sodexo. “Our partnership with PureShare is the result – a customized solution that has already demonstrated the business benefits of providing tailored, real-time information to our managers.”
