WorldWideLearn.com, the world's premier online directory of education, is pleased to announce the five finalists for its This Is My Classroom video contest. With a top prize of $1,000 and four runner-up prizes of $100, the video contest called for contestants to showcase their favorite non-traditional learning environment and demonstrate how online classes allow them the freedom to learn anytime and place while maintaining their job, family, passions or other personal commitments.
“Online learning allows students to determine when and where to pursue their higher education goals,” said Katrina Boydon, Executive Editor of WorldWideLearn.com. “We’re excited that these five videos show how a variety of individuals are fitting their education into their lives rather than being forced to conform to traditional classrooms.”
The five finalists’ videos provide viewers a glimpse of how non-traditional students are taking control of their learning environment and demonstrating the unique places and ways in which they study, including outdoors, in their quiet bedroom, at the beach and in their apartment.
The top five videos were selected from all competing entries based on creativity, topic, relevance and popularity on YouTube by a panel of judges. The grand prize winner will be awarded based on the highest number of votes.
The public vote will take place beginning on July 12, 2010 and run through July 26, 2010. Individuals should rate the videos based on creativity and topic relevance. Individuals may vote only once per 24-hour period. The grand prize winner and runner-ups will be announced on August 9, 2010 on the main page of WorldWideLearn.com's This Is My Classroom.
