Krista LaRiviere, CEO of gShift accepts award from YorkTechnology Association as 2010 Start-Up of the Year

"We are delighted with the selection of gShift Labs as Most Promising Start-Up,” said Marie Wiese, YTA Chair.

gShift Labs, creators of patent-pending, game-changing software that provides the business intelligence to get your website ranked on page one of search engines, was awarded a Technology Leadership Award by the York Technology Association as Most Promising Start-Up of the Year. The award was presented on June 17, 2010 in Markham Ontario by Marie Wiese, Chair of the YTA and Pat Shaw, Executive Director, YTA.

"We are delighted with the selection of gShift Labs as Most Promising Start-Up,” said Marie Wiese, YTA Chair. “This award is presented to a Greater Toronto Region-based organization that has the greatest potential to demonstrate excellence in their business, while embracing a commitment to the knowledge-based sector and have steadily increased revenue, added employees, and embraced sound business fundamentals including the addition of an advisory board or board of directors. gShift has demonstrated excellence in all of these areas."

Over 150 YTA members and guests, including Deputy Mayor of Markham Jack Heath, attended the luncheon to honor gShift Labs (Start-Up of the Year); Solidifi Inc. (Scale-Up of the Year); and Compugen Inc. (Company of the Year).

After accepting the awards on behalf of their organizations, Krista LaRiviere, CEO and Co-Founder of gShift Labs; Ryan Smith, Chief Technology Officer at Solidifi Inc.; and Harry Zarek, CEO of Compugen Inc., participated in a panel discussion and shared their lessons learned in starting and growing their businesses.

“We are start-up veterans,” said LaRiviere. “gShift Labs is our third start-up and each time we’ve turned to the experience and collaborative nature of fellow YTA members. Being recognized by colleagues and the community is an honor and creates the motivation to strive for the next category. The market is embracing our SEO platform and our business plan is on track. We hope to be considered for the Scale-Up award in the very near future.”

There are a variety of tactics and best practices that are used to improve organic search results. They are time consuming, complicated and require tying together a number of publicly available tools. gShift Labs has developed an SEO platform that aggregates, stores and tracks data providing the business intelligence and plain language recommendations to drive a “page-one” organic search strategy. Less time can be spent on “figuring out SEO” and more time can be spent on building the right content and tactics to deliver traffic to a web site. This is a must for anyone that wants to improve their organic search ranking.

gShift Labs is looking for CMOs and VPs Marketing that want to use improved search rankings to:

  •     Generate more revenue by driving qualified traffic to their websites
  •     Decrease the costs related to monitoring and tracking search engine performance over time
  •     Reduce the risk of having the data associated with a web presence and organic search stored outside of the company
