The award was presented on June 17, 2010 in Markham Ontario by Marie Wiese, Chair of the YTA and Pat Shaw, Executive Director, YTA.

Over 150 YTA members and guests, including Deputy Mayor of Markham Jack Heath, attended the luncheon to honor gShift Labs (Start-Up of the Year); Solidifi Inc. (Scale-Up of the Year); and Compugen Inc. (Company of the Year).
After accepting the awards on behalf of their organizations, Krista LaRiviere, CEO and Co-Founder of gShift Labs; Ryan Smith, Chief Technology Officer at Solidifi Inc.; and Harry Zarek, CEO of Compugen Inc., participated in a panel discussion and shared their lessons learned in starting and growing their businesses.
“We are start-up veterans,” said LaRiviere. “gShift Labs is our third start-up and each time we’ve turned to the experience and collaborative nature of fellow YTA members. Being recognized by colleagues and the community is an honor and creates the motivation to strive for the next category. The market is embracing our SEO platform and our business plan is on track. We hope to be considered for the Scale-Up award in the very near future.”
