SunCast Entertainment Finalizes Cast and Crew for Short Film “Xtraction”, Set to Shoot in Tempe and Guadalupe, Ariz., July 13-18

SunCast principals Katrina Matusek and Marco Santiago Jr. lead a strong cast and crew for "Xtraction", an action-thriller set in Mexico that centers around the world of organ trafficking.

This is our first project under the SunCast Entertainment banner and we are excited to have all of the key players in place and ready to go into production,” Matusek said.

“Xtraction”, a short-film written and directed by SunCast Entertainment VP of Creative Development Marco Santiago Jr., has finalized its cast and crew and is filming July 13-18 in locations in Guadalupe and Tempe, Ariz.

“Xtraction” is an action-thriller set in Mexico and the world of organ trafficking. The story follows Ronnie, a hardened and retired Army Contractor on a mission to rescue her abducted daughter. In the process she reconnects with her emotions and the ones she loves.

The cast includes SunCast Entertainment President and CEO Katrina Matusek, who in addition to her Best Actress Awards for her theater work has several films to her credit, has hosted entertainment and training programs including those for Pet Smart and The AZ Peace Officers Standards and Training Board, and appeared in the recent theatrically-released “Deadfall Trail.

The cast also includes Kurt Caceres, an accomplished actor with numerous film and television credits to his name, including a role in the 2006 Oliver Stone film “World Trade Center”, a lead role in the recently completed “Down For Life” starring Snoop Dogg and Danny Glover, and television credits in “Prison Break”, “The Closer”, and “NYPD Blue”; and Cristina Noriega Nevarez, who has hosted numerous English and Spanish television shows such as “Teledia Arizona”, “Super Bowl Segment”, “Despierta Arizona” among others, on Univision along with lead roles on numerous short films.

Additional cast members include Elias John Castillo, Rob Hartz, Jessie Hedby, Emily Ginsberg and Alex Gonzales.

“This is our first project under the SunCast Entertainment banner and we are excited to have all of the key players in place and ready to go into production,” Matusek said.

“Xtraction” is writer / director Santiago Jr’s. fifth short film. His most recent film “Fallen Hero” made its world premiere at the Phoenix Film Festival and will be screened in competition at the prestigious LA Shorts Fest in July.

“We have such a fantastic cast and crew for this project, and I’m looking forward to working with all of these talented people,” Santiago Jr. said.

Additionally, Roze of Tempe-based Gas Mask Films is the Unit Production Manager for the film, and Miguel Bunster is the Director of Photography.

Roze most recently wrote, directed and produced the full-length feature “Deadfall Trail”, which had its world premiere at the Phoenix Film Festival in April and its theatrical release on May 14 at Harkins Theater in Tempe.

Bunster is an accomplished cinematographer and most recently was DP on “La Linea The Line” in 2009, which stars Ray Liotta, Andy Garcia, Armand Assante and Danny Trejo. He also is currently set to supervise the visual images as DP on upcoming feature film projects like “The Spider”, “I Will Follow” and “Code of Silence” starring Michael Madsen and Tom Sizemore.
