After conducting a nationwide retained search led by health leadership solutions firm B. E. Smith, Newport Hospital in Newport, R.I., has hired John Camus to fill the role of director of physician practices. A seasoned healthcare practice administrator with more than 20 years of executive leadership experience, Camus will assume his new duties at Newport Hospital on September 6.
“John has extensive knowledge and experience with managing operational workflows in the healthcare setting,” said August Cordeiro, president and CEO, Newport Hospital. “His ability to partner with physicians while improving patient access and satisfaction will position Newport Hospital for continued growth in the coming years.”
Prior to joining Newport Hospital, Camus served as CEO with Olean Medical Group, LLP in Olean, N.Y., where he had executive leadership responsibility for a multi-practice specialty group with 28 physicians providing care to more than 90,000 patients in the Olean area. His career has included executive leadership positions at Hampden County Physician Associates, Sisters of Providence Health System—Mercy Medical Center Campus, and Physician Practice Partners—RiverBend Medical Group, all in Springfield, Mass. Camus completed a master’s of business administration at Western New England College in Springfield.
Newport Hospital is a 129-bed community hospital offering a broad range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, diagnostic imaging, a birthing center, behavioral health unit, a clinical laboratory, comprehensive surgical services, intensive care, acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.
