LDM Global today announced its General Counsel and Head of Global Operations, Don MacFarlane, has been published as a co-author of a chapter covering the complex process of global bankruptcy in a new book titled, “Inside the Minds.” Dr. MacFarlane, who recently joined LDM Global, co-authored the chapter “Bankruptcy Law: Client Strategies in Europe” with Timothy A. Barnes, Partner at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP. The book is being published by Thomson Reuters/Aspatore and will be available later this month.
Barnes and MacFarlane’s chapter analyzes European Bankruptcy laws and compares them to other countries, like the United States, where there is more leniency and limited debt obligations. It suggests creative strategies for those facing bankruptcy or insolvency at the global level and outlines the latest laws and trends.
According to Scott Merrick, International Director of Marketing for LDM Global, “Don’s co-authored chapter demonstrates his expertise with international finance and insolvency law. The chapter helps global companies and individuals understand the differences in process, obligations and penalties between countries. Finding a way to proceed that is acceptable to multiple jurisdictions can be daunting. Don and Tim’s chapter really helps provide clarity for those with business in multiple countries.”
Before joining LDM Global, Don practiced at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP. His practice focused on international cross-border mergers and acquisitions; matters frequently involving complex agreements and insolvency.
According to Dr. MacFarlane, “Co authoring the chapter provided me an opportunity to help inform clients on an area of complexity for many corporation and individuals with financial obligations in multiple countries. I enjoyed collaborating with Tim on the chapter as it forced us to make sure we were covering creative solutions on a number of complex issues.”
