HTC has ported SQM, an application for sales quote management, from desktop to a mobile phone application. HTC’s SQM makes sales quotation and cost reduction possible from mobile phones

HTC Corporation’s President and CEO, Dr. Guy Rabbat, announced today that HTC has ported SQM, an application for sales quote management, from desktop to a mobile phone application. SQM is used by electronics design and manufacturing companies to automate the process of quoting manufacturing costs.

“The primary user of SQM should be the sales person who wants to win the quote and control its speed,” said Rabbat.

Dr. J.K. Hassan, Chairman of The Nest Group, a $450M conglomerate, said “The HTC Corporation sales quotation system has improved our company margin by 7% by locating the best suppliers options and reducing the time a sales quotation process takes from four weeks to three days, which is a highly competitive advantage in the development and manufacturing of our optronics products and mobile communications devices.”

Most companies today are focused on managing their sales cycle through customer-relationship-management (CRM) or their financial, production and material transactions through enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems. However, according to Rabbat, to win a quote, companies must be more competitive, combining speed and innovation.

Rabbat said, “An SQM system insures that the complete quote process is successful, fast and competitive. Improving the win ratio of quotes even by a small percentage will make a substantial difference in gaining revenue growth. Speed and efficiency in the work between CRM and ERP is what makes a company win in the marketplace. This gap is covered by the sale quote management (SQM) process.”

Companies are succeeding by integrating their supply chain activities and creating shorter cycles from innovation to market, while teaming across functions and disciplines, such as sales, engineering, supply chain and finance.

SQM starts with search engines for parts and components, subsystems and systems, locating the most cost effective configurations. It provides historical data and tracking of past quotes, and manages the entire and elaborate quote process from beginning through contract delivery to the customer.

SQM covers customer product configuration, standardization of components, product commonality and reuse, recyclable materials for components, customer and vendor management. It links the sale, engineering, financial and supply chain functions. The SQM technology relies on massive data searches, algorithms based cost and configurations, and the integration workflow of the quote process through all the cross-functional teams.

Rabbat said, “I believe the HTC SQM mobile phone system will add significantly to our bottom line financial results.”

SQM was developed in part using inputs from a proprietary market research process of Edison Innovations, Inc. to identify market gaps and unarticulated needs representing opportunities for new products. “HTC offers all electronic manufacturers lower costs and faster time to market with its Sales Quote Management process,” said Larry MacDonald, president of Edison Innovations, Inc.
