Upload Your Own Photo feature launches as part of Hunter Douglas online design center

"This tool offers some revolutionary features never before available to consumers in this industry."

For years the award-winning Hunter Douglas iMagine™ Design Center room visualizer – part of http://www.hunterdouglas.com – has been providing consumers with an innovative, interactive way to view the company’s vast product collection online prior to visiting with a Hunter Douglas dealer and making a purchase. Now, the company is enhancing this offering with a unique photo upload tool that allows the consumer to visualize products from the nation's leading manufacturer of custom window fashions not only in the context of a bedroom, kitchen or living room but in actual rooms in one’s own home.

In collaboration with the Hunter Douglas Marketing Technology team and UK-based Visualize It Ltd., Enlighten – long-time interactive agency of record for Hunter Douglas – designed and developed Upload Your Own Photo. The feature gives site users the ability to upload their own photo to the iMagine Design Center and apply images of Hunter Douglas products directly to the windows in the room. After selecting a photo to upload, the user prepares it for visualization by creating window outlines and entering the window dimensions. This allows the tool to precisely scale images of the window fashions for a true-to-life result, and is easily accomplished with an expandable outline tool.

An innovative masking feature provides further assurance of an accurate portrayal; if within the user's photo the window is partially obscured (by an object such as a chair or lamp), the consumer can mask the object to produce a clear representation of what the product will look like in the actual room.

Once the photo is uploaded and prepped the user can apply different product styles, fabrics and colors (there are over 5,000 to choose from) and even see the product up close and in motion with links to product and lifting system videos – all without leaving the Upload Your Own Photo tool. Once the desired look is achieved, the image can be e-mailed and stored for future use in the personalized "My Workbook" section of hunterdouglas.com, and local dealer information can be accessed via the "Where to Buy" link.

Upload Your Own Photo has already been granted a 2010 Best-in-Class award from the WCMA (Window Covering Manufacturers Association) – the industry benchmark of excellence. "This tool offers some revolutionary features never before available to consumers in this industry," said Jim Mathews, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Hunter Douglas. "The ability to preview the products in a person’s own room interior will not only attract more visitors to the Hunter Douglas site, but significantly simplify and enhance the research and purchasing process for consumers."
