Germantown, MD (PRWEB) July 15, 2010
US Wellness has joined forces with Events of the Heart, a New York City-based nonprofit, in their shared mission to raise awareness for heart disease and screen one million women for cardiovascular disease by 2012.
US Wellness will support this initiative by providing free biometric screenings that address key risk factors of heart disease; including, cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure and body mass index. US Wellness will also provide immediate, onsite health counseling on each woman’s individualized screening results.
The screenings will accompany a number of events that aim to build awareness for research and preventive care programs. “We are extremely proud to support such a dynamic nonprofit and their mission with which we are inherently aligned,” US Wellness President and CEO Tori Tomlinson said. “Heart disease in women is presenting in epidemic proportions. We believe that screening builds critical understanding of risk factors that is transformative in changing behaviors and treatment regimens for women.”
“Events of the Heart is unique in that their approach is creating a unified community that supports women in taking steps towards taking control of their health and opens a fresh dialogue about serious health threats facing women in the United States. US Wellness is committed to offering screening and health education to one million women in an effort to prevent heart disease and take a proactive approach in public healthcare.”
