“The institutional knowledge and innovative ideas of LegalNet Works and the creative communications strategies of Beekeeper Group combined to beat out some of the largest, most respected government contractors and public affairs firms."
Arlington, VA (PRWEB) July 17, 2010
LegalNet Works Inc. (“LegalNet”) and Beekeeper Group were selected as winners of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) National Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign Challenge. Created by DHS and open to the public, the Challenge sought the best and brightest concepts on how to clearly and comprehensively communicate cybersecurity to the American public. The LegalNet and Beekeeper Group proposal was selected as the most creative entry of the competition. This announcement was made at a White House cybersecurity event attended by President Obama and led by Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke on July 14th.
The winning proposal includes activities designed to educate the American public about online safety, targeting groups as young as kindergarten students and extending up to corporate executives and boards. Message dissemination relies heavily on online social networking websites such as Facebook, YouTube and Linked-In.
“The strategy of our proposal centers around four key campaign elements to include interactive activities, traditional events, video challenges, and cybersecurity toolkits,” said Vince Crisler, LegalNet’s Senior Director for Cyber Initiative Programs. “One of our elements, the Trot for Bots was a favorite among the team. The idea is to run a 5k race in downtown DC streets to demonstrate that a single runner may not have an impact on traffic, but a large group of runners can wreak havoc – just like a large-scale botnet on the Internet.”
“It’s a great honor to be recognized as the most creative submission to the DHS Cybersecurity Awareness Challenge,” said Beekeeper Group Partner Travis Gianchetta. “The institutional knowledge and innovative ideas of LegalNet Works and the creative communications strategies of Beekeeper Group combined to beat out some of the largest, most respected government contractors and public affairs firms. We look forward to working with DHS to implement our strategies to increase public awareness of this very important issue.”
