Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 21, 2010
Swisslog, a leading provider of automated materials transport and pharmacy automation solutions for hospitals, today announced that 13 of the top 14 hospitals in the United States according to U.S. News & World Report are its customers, including all of the top five.
U.S. News evaluated almost 5,000 hospitals to rank the best in 16 adult specialties. Death rates, patient safety, and reputation among more than 9,000 specialists went into the 2010-11 rankings. Of 152 hospitals ranked in at least one specialty, only the top 14 are featured in an Honor Roll for landing near the top in at least six specialties.
Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore was again ranked as the best hospital in the country, as it has been for the past 20 years.
U.S. News publishes its annual ranking of the best hospitals "to help guide patients who need high-stakes care because of the complexity or difficulty of their condition or procedure," according to the magazine.
"Successful outcomes for those with complex conditions often include how quickly and reliably doctors and nurses get the items they need to diagnose and treat their patient," said Charlie Kegley, president of Swisslog Healthcare Solutions' North American division. "Whether it be the speedy return of verified lab results or the reliable transport of medicine from the pharmacy to the patient, our pneumatic tube systems allow hospitals to deliver quality healthcare faster, safer and with greater efficiency. As a result, we are proud to have played a role in helping 13 of our customers achieve U.S. News Honor Roll status."
