World's Largest DNS Provider Thanks Customers for a Fantastic First Four Years

OpenDNS, the world's largest and fastest-growing provider of Internet navigation and security services that make networks safer, faster, smarter and more reliable, celebrated its fourth birthday this July. OpenDNS has seen astounding growth over the past four years and today is used by one percent of global Internet users as well as one in three public K-12 schools -- all with 100 percent uptime.

OpenDNS was launched by David Ulevitch in July 2006 with the aim of providing a DNS service far superior to what was available at the time from Internet Service Providers. In addition to offering the fastest and most reliable DNS available, the service has grown in functionality and today provides navigation, security and Web content filtering services for consumers, schools and businesses. Customers include Fortune 500 Enterprise companies, some of the largest school districts in the largest cities, like Baltimore, Detroit and San Diego, and millions of home users.

In Fall 2009, OpenDNS launched two new subscription services that give users even more customization and security options, OpenDNS Deluxe and OpenDNS Enterprise, both of which have experienced unprecedented growth. Its most recent product launch is FamilyShield Parental Controls, the simplest and most straightforward way for parents to protect their kids online.

"As people learn more about the importance of DNS for security, reliability and speed, OpenDNS is proud to be the clear choice for millions of users." said OpenDNS Founder and CEO David Ulevitch. "While we are the leader in the space, we are only at the beginning of what we want to accomplish and are looking forward to the next four years -- and beyond. "

In addition to its cloud-based recursive DNS service, OpenDNS also operates, the Internet's most authoritative source of phishing data.
