Los Angeles’ greatest chefs and restaurateurs will descend upon the beautiful Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows on Sunday, August 1 for Angeleno’s Chefs Night Out and 8th Annual Restaurant Awards—the most prestigious and longest-running chef awards in Southern California. The event is hosted by Angeleno’s national food and travel editor, Brad A. Johnson, the only critic in America to win both the James Beard Award and the Cordon Bleu World Food Media Award for restaurant criticism. In celebration of the magazine’s annual restaurant issue, Angeleno’s Chefs Night Out pays tribute to Brad’s picks for Chef of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, Best Pastry Chef, Best New Restaurant and more. The awards will be handed out by Angeleno’s President and Group Publisher Alan Klein and Editor-in-Chief Degen Pener at a VIP reception preceding the Grand Tasting event. VIPs will get a chance to toast the winners and mingle with the chefs before the Grand Tasting begins.

“I dine at more than 200 fine dining restaurants every year in order to come up with my annual ‘To Live and Dine in L.A’ story,” Brad Johnson says.

Food aficionados and industry leaders are invited to bid at a silent auction and test their luck at carnival games for chances to win prizes ranging from free tickets to LudoBites to fabulous, five-star vacations with airfare included. Also at the Grand Tasting, special host chef Ray Garcia of FIG Restaurant at Fairmont Miramar will bring together a very special collaboration of local farmers from the famous Santa Monica Farmers’ Market. Chef Ray’s innovative approach to sustainable cuisine has made him a leading proponent in this arena and has placed him as one of Los Angeles’ most renowned chefs at this year’s Angeleno’s Chefs Night Out.

Angeleno’s annual July restaurant issue, on newsstands now, highlights the “Best of the Best” in L.A.’s culinary scene and—in addition to the awards—includes Brad’s 100 favorite restaurant picks. Exploring the city with his discerning palate and insider knowledge, he shares his discoveries on what it is like to “Live and Dine in L.A.”

“I dine at more than 200 fine dining restaurants every year in order to come up with my annual ‘To Live and Dine in L.A’ story,” Brad says. “And as fun as that might sound, compiling a list of 100 favorite restaurants is actually a lot harder than you might think—when you stop to consider that there are more than 15,000 restaurants in L.A.”
