Manahawkin, NJ (PRWEB) July 18, 2010
For established moving and storage companies riding the tumultuous real estate wave has translated for some firms including BD Movers, Inc, Manahawkin, reporting an increase in business.
Tony Baumer, owner of BD Movers, and a board member with the New Jersey Warehouse and Movers, says his moving business is up at least 26 percent for the first part of summer 2010, while the packing portion of his services is up over 150 percent.
Baumer attributes some of the increase due to the final flow of first time homebuyers taking advantage of the 2009 New Jersey tax rebate. With his packing services up 150% over the quarter last year, Baumer notes, “Packing is an extra that people usually cut out if they feel money is tight, so this is a great sign.”
Mover Cindy Meyer of Ridgewood, New Jersey, says her moving is business has been up 125 percent in recent months.
Baumer also attributes the uptick in business to attrition in the moving industry. Licensed reputable movers have been busy through the real estate shake-up while smaller or unlicensed movers have all but left the business.
“We are seeing a trend for larger, reputable movers to remain busy despite the real estate shakeup, which is good for the consumer.”
However, notes Baumer, “We always suggest that consumers to check the moving firm they will be hiring through agencies like the Better Business Bureau and personal references.”
